             Famous as the city of weavers, the history of Bhiwandi is filled with many significant events. The city Bhimdi, which came into being during the reign of King Bhimdev, later became Bhiwandi. The geographical structure of Bhiwandi is ideal from a commercial point of view. The textile industry came to be known in this city, which is at a strategic location of waterways and land routes.

Bhimdi alias Bhiwandi is a historical town that came into being during the reign of King Bhimdev. Islampur is also mentioned in some Persian letters during Muslim rule. Another hypothesis is that the Bimba kings who came from the north first conquered Bhiwandi and then conquered Thane. First Bimba won Bhiwandi as 'Bimbasthan'. Later the name Bhiwandi was formed from Bimbasthana. Bhiwandi is famous as a city of weavers. The enterprising city of Bhiwandi, which has catered to the basic textile needs of millions of Indians for centuries, has a glorious history of cultural formation. This Muslim saint who helped the Hindu king came to be known as 'Baba Diwanshah'. Baba Diwanshah's dargah is still famous in Bhiwandi and every year a big urus is held at this place. Thousands of Hindus and Muslims visit the dargah in this Urusa. etc.This land was consecrated by Shivaji Maharaj in 1657. It is a historic Bhiwandi that preserves the footprints of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje (1683) and the great Bajirao Peshwa (1720 AD).

As Bhiwandi's geographical structure is strategically located along waterways and land routes that are ideal for trade, enterprising weavers from all corners of India have taken the name of Bhiwandi to the world stage in the production of textiles through traditional handlooms and later powerlooms. Gajanan alias Kaka Naik, a fifth-generation descendant of Gangaji Naik of Anjur, who played an important role in Chimaji Appa's Vasai struggle, joined the freedom fighter Savarkar's organization. When Lokmanya Tilak toured the district to promote the Home Rule League, he held a public meeting at Bhiwandi on 10 March 1918 along with Panvel, Kalyan. In that meeting he was given a bag of five thousand, Tatyasaheb Kelkar and Dhondopant Vidwans were with him and Mayor Alisaheb Faki was presiding. In 1920, Shaukat Ali and Muhammad Ali visited Bhiwandi on the occasion of Khilapat movement. The meeting was held in front of the Jumma Masjid in the center of the city. Ali brothers were also given a certificate of honor by the then mayor Madhavrao Tamhane. An unprecedented vision of Hindu-Muslim unity took place in Bhiwandi on the occasion of Khilapat movement. The participation of the freedom fighters of Bhiwandi in the Indian freedom movement is huge. The freedom fighters of Bhiwandi have shown that India's freedom stands on the sacrifice of countless men and women from different walks of life, caste and religion.

Electricity came to Bhiwandi in 1923 and in 1926 the great industrialist of Bhiwandi Kai. G. G. The first thermal power station was started with the efforts of alias Dadasaheb Dandekar and in 1927, Prophet Vasi Khansaheb Samadsheth brought the first loom in Bhiwandi.
